ABOUT Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival 2012

Florida foodies have a reason to celebrate! A flood of epicurean talent descends upon the area for the 2012 Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival. Award-winning chefs, culinary personalities, authors, winemakers and mixologists are creating a culinary event never before seen in Palm Beach County.

This sixth anniversary year of the Festival includes an expanded lineup, growing from five nights to nearly a dozen events with both day and evening programming, including a star chef golf tournament and trade-only panel discussion. Think food legends such as the Le Cirque family, Daniel Boulud and David Burke, Food Network stars like Marc Summers, Jeff Mauro, Marc Murphy and Robert Irvine, and other nationally recognized talent such as Chris Hastings, Stephanie Izard and many, many more.

From specialty cocktail and hors d’oeuvre receptions to 5-course sit-down dinners complimented with premium wine pairings to a massive cooking competition finale, all supporting Chefs Dish BackTM, the 2012 Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival launches the biggest charity event of the season, December 7-11.

2012 CHEFS DISH BACKTM PROGRAM

This year Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival is debuting a new charity component called Chefs Dish Back TM. The program is designed to support the participating chefs’ charities of choice. The Festival will distribute 100% of the net proceeds evenly on their behalf to the individual charities. Since its first year, the Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival has benefited charities. Over the course of the years, the charities have changed but the goal has remained: to make a difference in lives, to encourage participants to give and to give charities a new audience.

The program invites participating celebrity chefs to each choose a charity that is close to their hearts. In its inaugural year, the program features 20 charities, some local, other national, chosen by 27 celebrity chefs. The majority of the charities are hunger-relief programs, while others fight childhood cancer, serve veterans and inspire at-risk children in need of care. Whether grassroots or nationally-recognized, each charity is making a difference. This unique charitable component allows the participating chefs to have a unique connection to Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival, its audience, volunteers, staff and local community.

The charities in alphabetical are: Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, American Humane Association, Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, Bocuse d’Or USA Foundation, Chefs Collaborative, Chefs Feed the Need, City Harvest, Common Threads, Earth Learning, The Edible Schoolyard Project, Feeding Children Everywhere, Feeding South Florida, Gary Sinise Foundation, Opportunity Knocks, Sari Asher Center, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Share Our Strength, Table to Table, Vetri Foundation for Children and World Vision.
